Gigi’s Cupcakes Charlotte is closing its doors — but you can still order. Here’s how.
When Gigi’s Cupcakes Charlotte announced its closing earlier this year, the community refused to take no cupcakes for an answer.
THE BACK STORY: Owner Dana Walton said in early February that COVID-19 led to a lack of business at the Sharon Corners shop. “The pandemic has killed us,” she told CharlotteFive at the time.
AND THEN: We all bought cupcakes, and a rush of customer support brought the business back. “Honestly, the community has saved us,” Walton told us in March. “We had an amazing month of February and are going to be able to stay open. If the landlord will continue working with us, we’re set.”
BUT NOW: The South Charlotte brick and mortar will close on Saturday, Dec. 11. Gigi’s will transition to a combination of online ordering plus selling via Big Phil’s Sweets & Treats food truck.
How to order
After Saturday, how can you continue to get Gigi’s Cupcakes Charlotte? Here are the ways:
- Big Phil’s Sweets & Treats food truck: Follow Gigi’s Instagram or Facebook accounts for locations and updates.
- Order online for delivery via DoorDash or UberEats and pickup at the food truck.
- Corporate events or parties: Call (704) 907-8882 and ask for Phil to schedule.
“Thank you for an amazing 11 years at Sharon Corners, we can’t wait to continue serving y’all around town,” Gigi’s posted on Instagram this week.
