Charleston-based Callie’s Hot Little Biscuit has closed its Charlotte location after two years in business.

The Charlotte eatery’s page of the brand’s website says, “Due to staffing issues, our Charlotte eatery is temporarily closed.”

However, an email from National Restaurant Properties has advertised the space for lease, saying: “Callie’s Hot Little Biscuits had a difficult time recovering from the constant hits of Covid. So their loss is your gain! They spared no expense here on the build-out. This is a cool, funky little restaurant/cafe space that is begging for the next locally-owned take-out friendly concept to emerge in the heart of South End.”

The location at The Penrose apartment building opened in January 2020, serving handmade biscuits and breakfast sandwiches.

Callie’s founder Carrie Morey came into the spotlight in the PBS series “How She Rolls,” which gives an inside look into her growing business and the challenges that come along with it. An episode that focused on the opening of the new Charlotte location showed a largely empty restaurant as the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic kept customers home.
