Burger lovers in Southwest Charlotte have a new option to chow down on — Little Big Burger.

The restaurant brand has been in growing in the Queen City for four years, with locations in Prosperity Village and Rea Farms, but it recently expanded into the Steele Creek area through a delivery-only ghost kitchen run out of sister restaurant American Burger Company. Now, the restaurant has added a takeout option. Brand leader Robert Trevillian, who lives in Charlotte, gave us the scoop.

What’s it all about: Little Big Burger takes a quarter-pound Angus steakburger and cooks it “fat” on a flattop without smashing it down, so you get the thicker bite of a half-pound burger in a quarter-pound burger weight. It’s served on a smaller bun for a meatier experience.

The menu: The standard Little Big Burger comes with shredded lettuce, red onion, pickles and its signature ketchup — Camden’s Catsup — on a freshly toasted brioche bun (or lettuce wrap, if you so choose). Or you can try the Ringer, with applewood smoked bacon, double cheddar cheese, shredded lettuce, caramelized onions and fry sauce.

There’s also a Beyond Burger option — modified to the same thickness as the other Little Big Burgers — as well as a mushroom Swiss burger, a chicken sandwich and chicken tenders.

And let’s talk fries for a minute. Little Big Burger’s fries are shoestring fries, lightly tossed in white truffle oil and dusted with Kosher salt.

Each location has its own menu, so there’s room for local specials from time to time. Look for one coming up that features Charlotte-made Penny’s Pimento Cheese and peach barbecue sauce from The Peach Stand in Fort Mill. “We try to use as much local as possible,” Trevillian told CharlotteFive.

How does Little Big Burger differ from American Burger Co.?: American Burger Co. cooks 1/3 pound patties on a chargrill. It uses a different seasoning with different toppings — and Its fries are 3/8” steak fries.

“It’s a whole different taste structure,” Trevillian said.

How to get it: Remember, you can’t walk up to American Burger Co. and order — Little Big Burger’s Steele Creek location is delivery and takeout only with online ordering. For now, you can order directly, via Caviar, DoorDash., GrubHub and UberEats.

What’s coming up next: Little Big Burger is working with Unbelievabuns creator Jerrod Adkinson a vegan option to pair with his high protein, low carb bun. Stay tuned.
