Pizzeria named tops in NC closes Concord restaurant — but don’t worry, there’s another nearby

Aliño Pizzeria fans will now have to head to the Mooresville location to experience what Delish called “The Pizzeria Everyone is Obsessed with In Your State.” The Concord location has shut its doors for good.

“We decided to close Aliño Pizzeria at Concord Mills to focus on our original location at Merino Mill in Mooresville,” owner Michal Bay told CharlotteFive. “Merino Mill is just a better fit and environment for us.” The team is also planning to close its other remaining location, Aliño Pizzeria at Mall of Georgia, on June 15 to concentrate on Aliño at Merino Mill.

“We are open to adding another Aliño Pizzeria in Charlotte or elsewhere if we find the right spot,” Bay said.

“Along with Aliño at Merino Mill, we are focusing on the expansion of Aliño’s sister restaurant at the Mill, The Barcelona Burger & Beer Garden. The Barcelona will open its second location in Winston-Salem later this summer.”

Customers who are fans of the Neopolitan-style pizza joint were quick to respond via social media:

  • “No!! Me and my daughters favorite spot for great fresh pizza,” Marquittia Banks said on Facebook.
  • On Instagram, Jeff Shelton replied to the news with: “Oh ... peaches!!! Concord Mills. Leave that for Sbarro.”
  • And Maureen Karen Rose tagged a Facebook friend with the news. “Kevin, now there is no reason to go to Concord Mills.”
