While supporting local is always in season, warmer weather ushers in one of the best times of the year — farmers market season.
Shopping at local farmers markets is a way to support local farmers, producers and vendors. It’s also a great avenue to source some of the city’s best fresh produce, choice meats and seafood, made-from-scratch baked goods and more.
The next time you plan your next grocery haul, check out these Charlotte-area farmers markets because they have you covered:
Charlotte Regional Farmers Market
Location: 1801 Yorkmont Rd, Charlotte, NC 28217
Neighborhood: Eagle Lake/South Charlotte
What to know: The market is run by the state and is one of the city’s largest farmers markets. Some of the vendors you’ll find are Lotus Acres Farms, Flynns Farm, Duke’s Bread, Dunx Coffee, Bluebird Farm, Fat Boy’s Produce and more. Pets are not allowed.
Hours: Tuesday through Saturday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. from October through April, Tuesday through Saturday from 8 a.m.-6 p.m and Sunday 12-6 p.m. from May through September.
Cotswold Farmers Market
Location: 309 S Sharon Amity Rd, Charlotte, NC 28211
Neighborhood: Cotswold
What to know: The market offers more than 15 local vendors each week. The vendors include Watsonia Farms, Edgerton Farms, Farmhouse BBQ, Eleven Eleven Bakery and more. Vendors offer produce, eggs, beef and pork cuts, honey, eggs, sauces, rubs and more.
Hours: 8 a.m.-12 p.m. on Saturdays
Davidson Farmers Market
Location: 120 S Main St, Davidson, NC 28036
Neighborhood: Davidson
What to know: The market is located next to town hall in Davidson. Vendor offerings include baked goods, dairy, flowers, plants, proteins, honey, food trucks and more. The vendors are A-Wow The Plant Gal, Butter Crust Bakery, Earthly Dressings, Flying Fish Seafood, J.F. Chocolat, Raceway Berry Farm and more. Pets aren’t allowed.

Gastonia Farmers Market
Location: 410 E Long Ave, Gastonia, NC 28054

What to know: The market’s vendors offer fruits, vegetables and more. Visitors can purchase items from Boyd Farms, Debbie’s Kitchen, Dollar Down Farm, Ladybug Bakery and more.
Hours: The market is open from May through October on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., July through September on Thursdays from 5-7 p.m., and April through November on Saturdays from 7:30 p.m.-12:30 p.m.
Harrisburg Farmers Market
Location: 6960 Harris Depot Rd, Harrisburg, NC 28075

What to know: Visitors will find items from local farmers and vendors. Curt’s Kettle Corn, Green Meadow Acres and Hunter’s Sauces are some of the vendors.

Huntersville Growers Market
Location: Huntersville Town Center Lawn

Kings Drive Farmers Market (Simpson’s Produce)

What to know: The market offers a variety of items like fresh produce, fresh cut flowers and plants.
Hours: It’s open from April through December. Hours vary.
Matthews Community Farmers Market
