A taste of Brazil: This bakery with sweet, savory treats coming to Ballantyne this summer
If you’re looking to experience traditional, made-from-scratch Brazilian treats, Charlotte’s new Brazilian Eats & Treats may be the place for you. The bakery opens this summer in Ballantyne.
Owner and Brazil native Marcia Sanabria — who started cooking and baking Brazilian dishes with her mom at 9 — is excited about bringing both savory and sweet family recipes to Hunters Crossing.
“We’re excited to introduce our cooking to other people and to make what we like to make because I love it,” Sanabria told CharlotteFive. “So, I said, I’m going to take it to the next level.”
WHAT TO EXPECT: The cozy environment will transport you to South America. You can expect to hear Brazilian music playing throughout the bakery, and there’ll be more than 30 seats for guests to experience Brazilian culture in Charlotte by tasting various handmade treats.
MENU: The menu will consist of authentic savory and sweet dishes that are popular in Brazil. There’ll be items such as pastries, mousses, cakes and more. You can expect to find various items that incorporate passionfruit, which is used in many of Sanabria’s creations.

Among the offerings:
Passionfruit mousse, passionfruit with white chocolate and passionfruit truffles.
Brigadeiro, which is a Brazilian chocolate truffle. (It’s also in the company’s logo.)
Coxinha, a drumstick-shaped fried dough filled with shredded or chopped chicken.
Pastels, a fried pastry filled with savory and sweet ingredients.
“It’s my dream,” Sanabria said. “I want to do my cooking for other people, and this is the best way. I want people to come and feel like they are welcomed.”
