2023’s (first) National Doughnut Day is June 2. In Charlotte, we will celebrate with doughnut deals, doughnut guides and doughnut winners. For the record, when doughnut shops are booming, the real winners are us — the customers!

So, we learned back in November that there are two National Doughnut Days. (Nothing to complain about here.) In 2022, the first — and more official date — to celebrate our love of the fried, sugary treats will be on Friday, June 3, and we are ready.
The second National Doughnut Day in 2022 is Saturday, Nov. 5. (Just go ahead and mark your calendar now.)
Now, back to that part about being ready for this: We’ve already rounded up your thoughts on Charlotte’s best doughnut shops this year, and you delivered. After more than 150,000 votes were cast, Yummm Donut in Gastonia came out on top in the CharlotteFive Reader’s Choice Awards for Charlotte’s Best Doughnuts.
Here’s a few of the Charlotte area’s local doughnut shops — including Yummm Donut — where you can properly note this holiday:

B.A.D.

How to celebrate: B.A.D. — an acronym for Beyond Amazing Donuts — had strongly encouraged preorders for its June 3-4 National Doughnut Day special, an Arnold Palmer. The brioche dough will come filled with tart lemon curd and dipped in a sweet tea glaze with mint-citrus sugar. Plus, you’ll get a free vanilla doughnut with sprinkles with every purchase: win-win. You can still catch a chance at the treats at Hex Coffee at Camp North End from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday, while supplies last.
