Here’s when Waterbean will open in downtown Pineville, in the former Unwind Tea & Coffee
After seven years on Main Street in Pineville, Unwind Tea & Coffee House recently closed its doors.
The news, first reported by Charlotte Ledger, also comes with a bright spot: Waterbean Coffee will reopen a location in its place on Friday, Nov. 4.
“Pineville has grown, IS growing, and it was an honor and a privilege to grow Unwind right along with it,” Unwind owner Wendy Favreau told CharlotteFive earlier in October. “My goodness, the beginning was humble, and I never in my wildest dreams imagined what we would become.”
Favreau said she was looking for quality local tea, and since she couldn’t find it, Unwind Tea & Coffee House was born. She credited Historic Downtown Pineville’s fellow business owners and nearby residents for the shop’s success.
“We have not only been neighbors, we are family. Main Street is magical place, and I truly feel blessed to have been a part of the magic for 7 years.”

Waterbean Coffee will open
On Monday, Oct. 24, the shop posted on Instagram: “Hello Pineville! Our signs are up at our Pineville location! Looking forward to seeing everyone next week!”
Cornelius-based Waterbean Coffee’s opening will keep downtown Pineville’s coffee scene intact. “We’re all desperately missing walking to our coffee shop on Main Street,” Tracie Collins posted on Waterbean’s Instagram recently.
Waterbean is a favorite among CharlotteFive readers: It was named runner up in the 2022 Readers’ Choice best coffee shop contest.
It has several locations in the Charlotte area, a presence in Hickory and Winston-Salem, and even a location in Vietnam. The coffee is hand-selected internationally and roasted in Huntersville.
