The Good Life at Enderly Park has closed its doors, citing disputes with its neighbors and landlord.

“We wanted to take this time to say how grateful we are for the support, the raising awareness about the disparities within Charlotte as well as the 5000+ women that have helped us keep our vision alive in the historically black neighborhood, Enderly Park,” stated a post on The Good Life’s Instagram account. “You ALL have made the past three years a dream come true.”

“We will continue to fight for the rights for Black and Brown women and men to operate their businesses unapologetically regardless of the circumstances and the opinions of naysayers,” the post continued.

Ongoing parking issues

Earlier this year, The Charlotte Observer reported on ongoing parking disputes between The Good Life at Enderly Park and the management team of Noble Smoke and Bossy Beulah’s. The argument escalated after Noble Smoke and Bossy Beulah’s management team installed signs in a parking lot, stating the parking was for their customers only.

At the time, The Good Life owner Robbie McNair agreed to an alternative parking arrangement, even though she said her lease stated her guests could use a communal parking lot, to be shared with the customers visiting Noble restaurants. Noble owner Jim Noble said that his lease stated the lot was reserved for his customers only, though he took down the signs after the argument escalated.

Babe Cave going on tour

“This is not the end of the road for us,” The Good Life stated. “We have some incredible plans for Babe Cave at the beginning of the year so take a second to follow Babe Cave CLT.”

Babe Cave has plans to launch a multi-city pop-up, bringing its famous brunch vibes to new places as part of its Babes On the Run tour. It also will reopen a new space under new ownership and management in Charlotte in early 2023.

‘A top tier healthy Black space’ is now gone

“Wowww. This was definitely a top tier healthy black space. The space may be gone but the vision is alive and well we look forward to new endeavors where ever is next,” wrote @m_wazhisname on The Good Life’s closing announcement.

“The Good Life is not a building but the Amazing people that have been part of, patroned, supported and operated this safe space for others to enjoy. Looking forward to the next location, new experiences, and new vibes,” stated Yashira M. Mejia.
