There’s a new neighborhood lounge opening this week in Lake Norman where you can settle in for a craft cocktail or a beer, watch a game and listen to live music.

The Hideaway LKN is inviting community members to visit the bar for its grand opening on Saturday, Nov. 5, at 8 p.m., for an evening of live music by Karl Stolz Acoustic Rock, drink specials and giveaways. You’ll find it tucked between Sangam Indian Cuisine and McCranie’s in the former Carbonation Craft Beer and Wine Shop space in Cornelius.

The bar — which will also be available for private parties and networking events — is co-owned by partners John and Debbie Huffman, Jay and Tina Kleinschmidt, and Laura and Ryan Messenger.

“We want to be part of a community and make it a neighborhood spot for people to hang out and feel comfortable,” Laura Messenger told CharlotteFive.

What you’ll find at The Hideaway LKN

The drinks: The full-service bar will offer craft cocktails, an extensive wine list and 16 rotating taps filled with beer, seltzer, wine and cider. In fact, its first tap is filled with Fioroso Cuvée Frizzante prosecco, to make way for mimosa flights.

There’s a smoker on hand for smoked bourbon drinks, and a Bloody Mary bar is on the way in the future. Non-alcoholic and gluten-free drinks will be available, as well.

The food: You won’t find any right now, but the owners are working on cultivating partnerships with the surrounding restaurants in the area.

The atmosphere: Expect to find live music and folks watching football. There will also be a heated outdoor lounge space complete with patio umbrellas, comfortable furniture and games

There’s a few bonuses: To go along with the vintage Lake Norman vibe that the owners are cultivating, you’ll find a claw machine and jukebox. (How’s that for nostalgia?) There are also hand-painted murals in the bathroom, created by bartender Chloe Hawk.

Something to look forward to: In addition to food partnerships, The Hideaway LKN’s owners are planning sip-and-shop days in the spring and summer months with neighboring businesses, where you’ll be able to carry a drink around the private property and browse items for sale.

There will be community-focused efforts, too. “Personally, I am excited to work with neighboring businesses to enhance Cornelius’ already strong sense of community and give back. We plan to host guest bartenders, fundraisers and other events to help our community thrive,” Messenger said.
