Morelia Gourmet Paletas is giving away more than 900+ paletas this weekend to celebrate the opening of its second North Carolina location at Birkdale Village in Huntersville.

The location owned and operated by Norberto Munoz of Charlotte will carry all 16 paletas flavors in the Morelia lineup, including fruit and cream-based classics like chocolate, coconut and strawberry and modern twists such as passionfruit-filled with condensed milk and Greek yogurt with wild berries.

Here’s what you need to know

When will Morelia Gourmet Paletas open?: Saturday, Nov. 5 from noon-6 p.m.

What is a paleta?: It’s an ice pop that’s larger than a traditional Popsicle. Some are made with ice cream, while others are dairy free and vegan, with base ingredients such as coconut milk. They’re also kosher certified. At Morelia, you can dip them and add toppings to customize your treat, as well.

How do I get a free paleta?: RSVP at its Eventbrite page, then just show up before supplies run out. (Note: dipping and toppings aren’t included — you can get them, but you’ll pay extra.)

Where have I heard of Morelia Gourmet Paletas before? The Miami-based shop opened its first North Carolina location in Charlotte’s South End in 2021 at 1425 Winnifred St., #104. The Birkdale Village shop will be its 11th store.
