Get excited, Korean barbecue and Asian hot pot fans. There are three locations of KPOT Korean BBQ & Hot Pot arriving in the Charlotte area — and one of those has opened for service.

The new KPOT location in Pineville opened this week. The restaurant in Matthews is still listed as “coming soon,” as is the one on J.M. Keynes Drive in University City.

The national chain is on a growth streak, recently opening locations in Orlando, Florida; Catonsville, Maryland; and Staten Island, New York. Its website also notes other locations in the Carolinas are open or on the way, too, including restaurants in Durham, Raleigh, Greensboro, Fayetteville and Columbia, SC.

Here’s what you need to know about KPOT before it opens in the Charlotte area:

The food: For KPOT’s hot pots, you start with a soup base, with options including Korean Seafood Tofu, Mushroom, Thai Tom Yum and more. Then you pick from a variety of sliced meats, including chicken, lamb, pork and beef, plus seafood, tofu and veggies.

The Korean barbecue menu works the same way with protein and veggie options, just without the soup. There are more than 20 options to choose from — some at dinner only — including beef, chicken and pork bulgogi; short rib; shrimp; salmon; and more.

The drinks: KPOT locations include a full bar, with draft and bottle beer, and wine. A variety of soju and sake options will also be available, as well as signature cocktails. Listed among the restaurant’s favorites are a Passionfruit Soju Mule, with Yobu Soju, passionfruit puree, lime and Gosling ginger beer; and a Yuzu Spritz, with Roku Gin, and Fever Tree lime and yuzu soda.

There’s a hard stop: Dining is limited to 2 hours, so manage your time wisely.
