Mr. Charles Chicken & Fish’s new location is opening near uptown Charlotte this week
“FINALLY FINALLY FINALLY” — A third location of one of Charlotte’s top hot spots for fried chicken is opening this week near uptown Charlotte. Mr Charles’ Chicken & Fish’s latest restaurant is landing in the Lockwood neighborhood, near Petty Thieves Brewing.
The new location — branded Mr. Charles Chicken & Fish Uptown — joins the takeout-only restaurant on Statesville Avenue and one on Cambridge Commons Drive.
Now, the new location is ready to open and will include live entertainment and specialty cocktails. “FINALLY FINALLY FINALLY!!!!” the restaurant posted on Instagram on Monday, Oct. 2. The new location was originally announced in January.
You can expect the same home-style cooking at the new location of Mr. Charles, which serves all manners of fried chicken, along with seafood and entrees such as smothered pork chops. A plentiful menu of sides highlights soul food favorites including candied yams, collard greens, mac and cheese, and more.
CharlotteFive writer Emiene Wright once set the scene at the original Statesville Avenue location perfectly: “Once inside, you’ll be tempted by a vast array of options spelled out on the wall and printed menus. Don’t be distracted. Your mission is to get the chicken. Feel free to combine it with any combination of fried fish, shrimp, gizzards or livers; any sides or desserts your heart desires, but don’t forget the chicken, for godssake. Still, even before you put it in your mouth, you’ll understand why Mr. Charles is a Charlotte institution. Everyone in line talks like family, because they’ve known each other for years.”
