A new year-round pub opens at Truist Field. Take a look around.
A new Uptown neighborhood spot called the Paper Mill Pub has opened at Truist Field and will operate year-round.
”We are very pleased to be able to open a local neighborhood pub at Truist Field for those in and around the City of Charlotte,” Charlotte Knights Chief Operating Officer Dan Rajkowski said. “We feel that this will be a great spot for fans before and after Charlotte Knights’ games, as well as other events in Uptown throughout the year.”
The name: The Paper Mill Pub’s name was chosen to honor the circa 1937 Virginia Paper Company building that once stood on the Truist Field site. The decor and other touches in the space will reference the time frame and paper company, as well.
“After several brainstorming sessions, we felt that the pub should represent a historical connection to the Queen City,” Rajkowski said.
The space: The Paper Mill Pub features an outdoor patio, an inside bar with sliding windows and a second-floor space with skyline views. Indoor capacity is 125 people. The ballpark’s general contractor, Rodgers Builders, and the ballpark’s architect, O’Dell - A LaBella Company, are working on the project.
The food: Pro Sports Catering, the Charlotte Knights’ existing food and beverage provider, will handle all food and drinks in the space from a permanently-installed food truck. The menu includes appetizers such as cauliflower bites, chicken wings and fried pickles, along with sliders, hot dogs and chicken tenders.
