Welcome to NoDa, Soul! Plaza Midwood staple Soul Gastrolounge has found a new home: The Pass, a new mixed-use development in NoDa that will be located at 4100 Raleigh Street.
Since 2009, Soul Gastrolounge was a fixture in Charlotte’s Plaza Midwood neighborhood. Then in August 2022, the restaurant was forced to temporarily close while looking for a new home, citing a rise in rent.
At 6,400 square feet, Soul Gastrolounge’s new location will be more than three times the size of the original.
There will be a large patio for outdoor dining and a reimagined Tattoo Liquor Lounge with a separate entrance.
Tattoo lounge seated 16 guests at a time, offering a very custom experience. Melissa Oyler
The restaurant is the first signed tenant at The Pass, a project by Third & Urban, near the light rail at Sugar Creek Station, and also near the Independent Picture House, Charlotte Art League and Black Box Theater.
Dreaming of your next bite of pork belly tacos with watermelon salsa? You won’t have to wait much longer: Soul is planning a Fall opening, part of the development’s first phase.
Artist, musician and designer Scott Weaver will manage the design for the new space.
NATIONALLY FAMOUS: The restaurant has garnered national attention from publications including The New York Times, Lonely Planet, Eater and Thrillist.
