Holiday help: Your 2023 guide to Easter and Passover meals in Charlotte

Easter and Passover are nearing, and it’s time to make holiday meal plans for your Charlotte gatherings.

This year, Passover lasts from the evening of Wednesday, April 5, through the evening of Thursday, April 13; and Easter is Sunday, April 9. So we’ve rounded up a list of offerings from local Charlotte restaurants and meal services to help ensure you’ve got plenty of options for brunch, complete dinners or however you choose to celebrate with family and friends.

Here’s a list of places to consider for your holiday meals in Charlotte, whether you choose to stay home with takeout or dine in-person (and check out our guide to Easter meals without reservations, as well):

Angeline’s

Location: Kimpton Tryon Park Hotel, 303 S Church St, Charlotte, NC 28202

Angeline’s Easter brunch will be offered from 8 a.m.-2 p.m., with a three-course prix-fixe menu. A kids menu is available, as well. Entree options include:

  • Angeline’s Breakfast with eggs, potatoes, breakfast meat selection and toast
  • Pizza Giorno with fingerling potatoes, peppers, onions, prosciutto cotto, sunnyside up egg, hollandaise and chives
  • Crab cake benedict
  • Cannoli waffle with chocolate sauce
  • Tuscan hash with poached egg, onions, mushrooms, bell peppers, white bean, kale, veggie sausage and arrabbiatta sauce
  • Pasta carbonara with black pepper tegliatelli

Buttermilk Sky Pie

Location: 16836 Birkdale Commons Pkwy, Huntersville, NC 28078

Buttermilk Sky Pie is offering pre-orders on Easter pies and and cookies. Its seasonal offering is Lemon Icebox Pie, a blend of tangy citrus and sweet creamy filling in a buttery graham cracker crust with whipped cream cheese topping.

Deadline: While supplies last. Easter pre-orders open Monday, March 20 and are limited to 9” size only; 4” pies will be first come, first serve and are in limited quantity.

Price: Prices vary upon flavor and size, but many 9” pies are $28, including the Lemon Icebox. All walk-in pies Easter weekend April 7-8 will be $35. Thumbprint cookies are $12.99/dozen.

Pickup: Before Easter Sunday, April 9.

The Capital Grille

Location: 201 N. Tryon St., Charlotte, NC 28202

The Capital Grille is offering brunch specials on Easter Sunday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. A la carte dinner options are available all day, as well.

Easter Brunch items include:

  • Lobster Frittata with butter poached lobster tails
  • 14-ounce bone-in dry aged NY strip and eggs
  • 8-ounce center cut filet mignon with white cheddar hash browns
  • Blueberry bread
  • Smoked salmon and caviar, which includes royal ossetra caviar, crème fraîche and blini, served with white cheddar hash browns.

Chef Alyssa’s Kitchen

Location: 4001-C Yancey Rd. #100, Charlotte, NC 28217

Chef Alyssa’s Kitchen is offering a Passover menu that comes ready to reheat, with options for main dishes including brisket, seared striped bass, roasted chicken, seared salmon, pot roast or roasted eggplant. A Seder Plate Pack is also available, with roasted lamb bone, parsley, salt water, vegetable, one hard boiled egg, and a pint of pear and fig charoset.

Its Easter menu also comes ready to reheat, with options including roast lamb shoulder, seared Wagyu flank steak, seared striped bass, roasted chicken, seared salmon or roasted eggplant.

How to order: Online — select pickup or delivery for Wednesday, April 5 for Passover or Friday, April 7 for Easter, then a time. Either toggle to the holiday menu of your choice or scroll down.

Deadline: Thursday, March 30 at 4 p.m. for Passover and Monday, April 3 for Easter.

Price: Varies, as items are a la carte. The Seder Plate Pack is $23.

Pickup or delivery: Wednesday, April 5 for Passover and Friday, April 7 for Easter.

Church and Union Charlotte

Location: 127 N. Tryon St. #8, Charlotte, NC 28202

Church and Union will be serving an Easter brunch buffet from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Brunch offerings will include:

  • Scrambled eggs
  • Home fries, biscuits and French toast, grits and assorted pastries
  • Bagels and lox

  • Bacon, sausage links, turkey sausage and sausage gravy
  • Fried chicken
  • Oyster bar and shrimp cocktail
  • Local mixed greens.

City Barbeque offering pre-order Easter meals with artisan-cured hams and house-made sides. The Easter bundle comes with a smoked, bone-in ham, two pan-size sides and a dozen buns, which can feed 12–14.

Copain

Location: 6601 Morrison Blvd., Charlotte, NC 28211 (off of the atrium behind Rooster’s)

Copain is offering an Easter menu featuring an array of fresh pastries, breads and holiday favorites including quiches, cakes and pies. Brisket, Noble Smoke barbecue and other prepared items are also available.

Customshop’s Easter Brunch menu will be a la carte and include offerings such as Shrimp & Grits, Steak & Egg, Carmen’s Flan, Sourdough French Toast and more, all made with ingredients from local farms.

Eddie V’s is offering a prix fixe three-course brunch menu on Easter Sunday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., plus live music at dinner starting at 4 p.m. A children’s menu is available, as are a la carte dinner options Brunch main courses include:

  • Butter-poached Maine Lobster Quiche Florentine with Fuji apple salad, roasted avocado and jumbo lump crab with lemon butter on brioche toast
  • 8-ounce pan-seared steak and eggs with potatoes au gratin and red-eye gravy.

For a family-style brunch with a view, visit rooftop restaurant Fahrenheit on Easter from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. The menu includes starters such as hot crossed buns with duck fat icing and shrimp cocktail, guava-basted ham, rosemary chicken mac and cheese, banana pudding pie for dessert and more.

Choices include appetizers such as smoked trout spread and seder plates, soups, fish dishes such as Gefilte fish cakes in tomato sauce and fish latkes, meats including braised brisket, sides such as potato kugel and desserts including seven-layer cake and a jelly roll.

Leah & Louise

Location: Camp North End, 300 Camp Rd, Charlotte, NC 28206

Leah & Louise is hosting a Kings & Queens series event, Easter Brunch on The Block, on April 9. The six-course outdoor dining experience starts at noon — rain or shine — in Camp North End’s Keswick area. Joining chef Greg Collier and the Leah & Louise team will be chef Sam Hart of Counter, chef Sam Ward of Wentworth & Fenn and chef Hector González-Mora of El Toro Bruto.

Brunch will begin with a champagne cocktail, followed by bread, a cold appetizer, a hot appetizer, fish, meat and dessert. Beer from Free Range Brewing will be served, as well as cocktails from Leah & Louise bar manager Kayleigh Williams-Brown.

When purchasing tickets, note of your food allergies and know that no accommodations will be made for vegans or vegetarians.

Port City Club by David Burke is offering a special a la carter Easter menu from 11:30 a.m.-9 p.m. The holiday meal includes entrée options including:

  • Atlantic salmon with asparagus, baby carrot, shiitake mushroom, chili sauce and a crisp wonton
  • Filet mignon, an 8 oz C.A.B.. with B1 steak sauce and whipped potatoes
  • Lobster ravioli with fresh corn, shiitake mushroom, scallion, lobster chili butter

YAFO Kitchen

YAFO’s Passover meal feeds 5-7 and includes matzo ball soup, pomegranate honey-braised chicken, potato kugel, Yafo Brussels with dates, and white balsamic roasted butternut squash with Aleppo pepper honey. Dessert is flourless chocolate cake. Adding extra chicken or brisket to the package is available at extra charge.
