Now open in Lake Norman: A new gourmet deli in Mooresville called The Counter
A new deli called The Counter is open in Lake Norman, offering Mooresville residents a place to stop in for a hearty breakfast sandwich or load up on a few deli salads and dinner to take home.
Owners Diane Pfeil and her husband, Don Pfeil, aren’t new to the restaurant business, however. Diane Pfeil owned a family-style restaurant in New York for more than 20 years before the couple settled in Mooresville about 18 years ago.
Now, she wants to bring that mom-and-pop feel to a new space in Lake Norman.
“Our vision is to bring the local people together with great food and gourmet coffee,” Pfeil told CharlotteFive. “It will be a place where you can meet for a friendly lunch or have a business meeting and linger over laughter and conversation.”
The couple has transformed the former Subway location with a new kitchen, new flooring and lighting, and more. The fully renovated space has seating for just under 30 people.
In the mornings, The Counter will serve up breakfast sandwiches with bacon or sausage, egg and cheese on croissants, bagels and kaiser rolls. You’ll be able to pair your meal with locally roasted Black Powder Coffee.
And the local partnerships won’t end there — to help showcase what Mooresville businesses have to offer, The Counter is also partnering with Josh’s Farmer’s Market for produce and Queen City Pastry for dessert.
At lunch, the deli will specialize in large gourmet sandwiches, prepared with Boar’s Head meats. While you’re there, you can pick up a pound of pastrami, deli salads or one of The Counter’s carryout dinners, which will rotate daily.
“We look forward to serving our neighbors,” Pfeil said.
