Dollar Cone in Monroe will celebrate its grand re-opening in late July.

Well-known ice cream shop Dollar Cone may have new owners running the space, but they’re making sure to keep the shop’s traditions alive.

Long-time customers Pam and Jeff LeBlanc are the new owners of Dollar Cone, an ice cream shop in Monroe that’s been closed since March. They announced a grand re-opening, set for July 30 from 2-8 p.m.

Attendees can expect free hot dogs, family-fun activities, music and giveaways.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming back previous customers and welcome new customers, as well,” Pam Souza-LeBlanc told CharlotteFive.

Julie McNulty, the previous owner of Dollar Cone, was looking for new owners when she announced that last year would be her last season operating.

It wasn’t until last March that McNulty had to put the sale on hold due to a family situation and asked if there was anyone else who was interested. That’s when the LeBlancs reached out to McNulty and set their plans in motion.

Dollar Cone is a special place for the LeBlanc family, who have been customers for 15 years and took their granddaughter there for her first ice cream cone.

“We feel strongly that everyone deserves a place to take their family that is enjoyable, affordable, and feels like home,” the LeBlancs stated on their website.

What you can expect: You’ll find new food items plus the original menu and a renovated, colorful space at Dollar Cone. The owners are introducing a kid-size $1 cone in keeping the tradition of the name.

Dollar Cone also has a variety of fun ice cream toppings such as cotton candy crunch, hot fudge and Oreos to create endless combinations. The menu also includes gluten-free options, too.

Along with soft-serve ice cream, Dollar Cone also has baked goodies such as chocolate chip cookies, double chocolate brownies and jumbo muffin tops.

Dollar Cone will be open year-round and will offer hot beverages and warm desserts including Pumpkin Spice flavors in the fall.
