New agave-focused Mexican restaurant almost open on South Boulevard in Charlotte
Mexican restaurant The Matador will open a location in Charlotte on June 14 along South Boulevard, bringing a new option for tequila lovers to explore.
The restaurant with 3,000 square feet of indoor-outdoor seating is focusing on offering a wide selection of agave spirits. Its choices include more than 150 different tequilas, mezcals and other selections.
The Matador offers a twice-daily happy hour — from 4-6 p.m. and 10 p.m.-last call, featuring food specials like the Grande Nachos, Haba Prawns, Grilled Stuffed Jalapeños and Street Tacos. It also features a “Top Shelf Tuesday,” with half-off any agave spirit over $16 on Tuesdays.
To pair with the drinks, the Matador’s scratch-made Mexican food will include classic burritos, enchiladas, tacos, along with nachos, salads and sandwiches.
The Charlotte location of the restaurant is owned by North Carolina native Zak Melang and will be the first to open in the state. A Charleston restaurant has recently opened, joining its Pacific Northwest locations in Idaho, Oregon and Washington.
Online ordering will be available.
