A local pizzeria known for its classic New York-style slices has opened another location in the Charlotte area.

Hawthorne’s New York Pizza and Bar has made its way to South End— in the space formerly home to Early Girl Eatery.

“We have nine other locations in Charlotte and, by far, this is just an area that we’d always been looking to get into and the timing was just right and the location was right,” Tracy Pannell, operations director for the restaurant, told CharlotteFive. “We’ve been in Charlotte for 20 years so we just wanted to offer what we’ve been doing well for 20 years to South End too.”

Hawthorne’s originally opened its doors in 2004, and now has multiple locations across Charlotte, Mint Hill and the Lake Norman area. The South End spot marks the restaurant’s 10th location, with another one opening in Harrisburg in 2025.

The new location also offers the restaurant’s classic food and drink options for lunch and dinner, including specialty pizzas, pastas and cocktails.
