It’s finally here: Cheat’s Cheesesteaks opens soon in Charlotte’s South End
The long-awaited second location of Cheat’s Cheesesteaks is finally almost here, and it’s bringing a few new tastes along with the new space.
The South End spot is set to open Saturday, Nov. 9 in a Hawkins Street restaurant along the Rail Trail that will feature the quick window service its customers have loved in Plaza Midwood — plus an expanded menu.
“We’re excited to bring Cheat’s Cheesesteaks to South End and showcase the evolution of our original fast-casual concept,” Cheat’s co-founder and 1957 Hospitality Group operating partner Ryan Hart said in a news release.
“We are incredibly honored to now be a part of the South End neighborhood and have designed a few new menu items to include as much of our new community as we can.”
Along with its well-loved cheesesteaks and hoagies, Cheat’s South End location will offer salads with house-made dressings, protein bowls and desserts. Customers will also find expanded beverage options, including freshly-squeezed lemonades and orangeade.
The Nov. 9 opening celebration will include a ribbon cutting at 11 a.m., with the first 10 customers getting a Cheat’s gift card. Staff will also give away Cheat’s merchandise throughout the day, and you can enter to win a free combo per week for a year.
Cheat’s will donate a percentage of its opening week sales to their Whiz Kids program, which supports underfunded schools including Ridge Road Elementary and other schools in South Charlotte.
“We’ve proven that our cheesesteak is in demand, and we can do it really well,” Hart previously told CharlotteFive. “South End was our original target location and where the name came from. … It’s right on the rail trail, so we thought we could offer a cheat day for runners along the track.”
