Spring is in full swing, and we’re excited to bring another edition in Kaleidoscope’s BIPOC small business series. This month we’re excited to shine a spotlight on Juice Box owned by Kimberly Wilkinson.

Known for its fresh, all-natural juices and smoothies, Juice Box isn’t just a place to grab a quick drink — it’s a destination for nourishing your body and energizing your spirit.

Wilkinson has shops in other parts of the Queen City, including in NoDa and Plaza Midwood, as previously featured in CharlotteFive.

Read below to learn about Wilkinson and her newest spot in Charlotte’s historic West End.

Q: Tell me about yourself

A: I’m from Indiana. I came down to Charlotte for college and I graduated from Johnson C Smith, (There’s a JCSU smoothie on the menu). I opened up my first location in NoDa. I also own Members Only Tasting Room & Social and Sprinkle.

Q: Can you tell us more about the products and services you offer at Juice Box?

A: We focus on all natural, fresh, juice, smoothies, salads and toast. And we offer oxygen therapy, wellness shots.

Everything is all-natural with no additives and plant-based.

Right now we press and deliver sustainable juices to Bytes Cafe and Market Cafe at 620. We’re always looking for more locations to place our fresh juices.

Q: What made you choose your new location?

A: I just wanted to be in an area where I felt like it was needed; it kind of feels like a food desert over there. I know there’s not a lot of options for healthy, nutritious food.

Q: You have a presence in many Charlotte neighborhoods. What does that mean to you as a Black business owner?

A: It’s really nice for people to see the diversity and know that the possibilities are endless. It’s exciting, it’s encouraging and I enjoy it.

I’ve been in Charlotte now for a while, so it’s nice to see the growth. I’m particularly excited about being in the West End, because they’ve been very intentional over there about ensuring that with the gentrification that’s going on, they are making sure that they are keeping black businesses there. So I’m excited about this space.
