Growing foodie spot jumping into former Babe & Butcher space at Camp North End
This summer, a food truck favorite that’s quickly outgrowing its current space is moving into the Camp North End location that was previously home to Babe & Butcher.
Eggroll Company moved into its Camp North End home in the Keswick District food stalls just last November — shortly after coming out on top as the People’s Choice Champion at Dessert Wars.
Since then, it’s been churning out its Uptown Steak, Chicken Bacon and Ranch, and Apple Pie Cheesecake Eggrolls to ever-growing crowds.
“We’ve Sold Out SIX DAYS STRAIGHT!,” the restaurant posted via Instagram just last week. “These lines have been CRAZY! We truly appreciate your patience to endure them. We can’t thank you enough for coming out and allowing us the opportunity to feed you.”
A couple of visits from Mr. Chimetime — a national food influencer who has called Eggroll Company “the biggest hidden gem in Charlotte” — didn’t hurt, either.
The North Carolina native loved the freshly fried bites so much in his visit to the food truck last year that he tipped the staff $5,000. He made a second trip recently to the Camp North End location just to make sure it still hits — and it most definitely does, he said.
Alexander founded Eggroll Company in 2022, crafting her sweet-and-savory eggrolls out of a food truck. The half-pound, deep-fried creations are hefty — coming out at about the size of a 10-inch deli sandwich. Now, you can also upgrade your meal into a combo with fries that come tossed in a signature seasoning.
Founder Daphne Alexander told CharlotteFive: “I want customers to know that everything we do is for them. We appreciate the incredible and overwhelming support we’ve received. We’re on a mission to change the narrative surrounding eggrolls. This movement didn’t start at Camp North End, but here is where we make our stand.“
As Eggroll Company moves into the larger 1,569-square-foot space, the look will remain similar to the eye-catching yellow food stall with modern lines. The food truck will stick around for catering gigs, too.
“Daphne’s need for a larger space is a testament to the market demand for their delicious offerings. We’re thrilled they’re relocating just a few feet away — still within the Keswick District — and we look forward to continuing to cheer them on as they enter this exciting new chapter,” Tommy Mann, development director of Camp North End, said in the news release.
