A new Italian restaurant is open in the SouthPark area, bringing new life to a once-popular restaurant space with antipasto, prime steaks and specialty dishes.

Fontana di Vino has taken over the space that was once The Fox & Falcon by David Burke and before that, Dogwood: A Southern Table.

“At Fontana di Vino, we live for ossimoro —where old-school Italian tradition collides with bold, modern moves. It’s unapologetic, crave-worthy and made for those who like their meals with a little heat and a lot of attitude,” marketing manager Lexie Cortes told CharlotteFive.

Ossimoro, as the restaurant explains on its OpenTable page, is a “philosophy of ‘traditional innovation’ — an approach that marries the timeless beauty of Italian culinary traditions with the excitement of modern creativity.”

Points of attention on the menu include a mozzarella bar and specialties that include a porchetta chop with fennel, rosemary and garlic, and an apricot reduction that serves two guests and is carved tableside.

There are also plenty of pasta dishes, prime steaks and Frutti di Mare alla Griglia — a lobster tail with scallops, shrimp and gremolata.

Fontana di Vino offers several options for prime steak: filet mignon, ribeye, bone-in KC or NY strip, and domestic Wagyu flat iron.
