For the second year in a row, Pizza Baby landed a spot in the 50 Top Pizza USA 2025 list, compiled in an independent guide boasted as the very first resource serving up where you can find the best slices across the globe.

After claiming No. 43 on the list in 2024, the Charlotte restaurant known for its specialty “Americana” pies skipped up a couple of ranks, coming in at 41.

“Two venues but one philosophy: to offer a high-quality product, both with round and pan pizza, starting from the care for the leavening and necessary maturation of the dough, the search for artisanal and preferably local raw materials,” the guide’s report of Pizza Baby says.

“This is how the great classics are born, such as the margherita made with artisanal mozzarella. A philosophy that is appreciated by the local public in both pizzerias, which fill the spacious and bright dining rooms. Attention to wine, beer, and cocktails, great professional and passionate service.”

Pizza Baby joined Charlotte’s food and drink lineup in 2023. The concept for it was born at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, CharlotteFive previously reported, when chef Trey Wilson was dishing out takeout pizzas at Flour Shop.

It wasn’t long before he and Steven De Falco “were on a mission to perfect their baker’s pie” and tested nearly 30 varieties of dough before Pizza Baby’s debut in Wesley Heights.

Catering to a wide variety of pizza cravings, Pizza Baby West is an Americana-style pizza restaurant with hearth-baked and naturally fermented dough, while Pizza Baby East pizzas are Roman-style with a signature housemade focaccia. The fan-favorite spot also offers sandwiches, salads, coffee and pastries, too.
