A beloved Charlotte bakery is expanding, which means more homemade sweets.

La Bonbonniére Bakery is slated to open a second location at The Alley at Latta Arcade in uptown and will begin welcoming cookie lovers in late September, the food hall announced on Instagram.

The bakery, known for its fusion-inspired cookies and desserts, first teased the new location in July. It’s a short walk from its first store front, which opened in April.

“It’s a scary step, but such a beautiful and thrilling one — because this move will bring so many benefits for all of us,” La Bonbonniére Bakery said on Instagram. “First of all: this new spot will be our official cookie lab.”

“We’ll be baking on site, which means warm cookies, extended hours, and you’ll get to see the magic happen in real time.”

An official opening date hasn’t been announced.

Valentina Lopez, a pastry chef and the bakery’s founder, has been making homemade cookies and desserts in the Queen City since 2023, CharlotteFive reported. Her husband, Ludwing Romero Funicello, helped share her sweet treats with family and friends, birthing what they described as “community-centered bakery.”

Each brownie is a different flavor, showcased by its topping: one is a s’mores brownie, another is topped with an Oreo, one with a Biscoff cookie, one with pecans and caramel, one with pistachios, and others with various chocolate candies.

“We have more than 35 flavors, so of course we try to change the lineup,” Lopez said. “That way people can have a cookie hunt, so they are chasing their favorite cookie. If it’s not available this week, it may be next week.”

Some of the bakery’s cookie flavors include:

  • The Classic, a chocolate chip cookie with a crunchy crust and gooey middle.
  • The Queen Toronto, made with double chocolate dough, toasted hazelnuts, Nutella and Ferrero Rocher chocolates.
  • The Royal Dubai, made with vanilla dough, pistachio butter, kataifi and tahini, topped with pistachios and milk chocolate.
  • S’mores Than That, made with vanilla dough, graham cracker cookies, marshmallow, Hershey’s milk chocolate and chocolate chips.

La Bonbonniére Bakery also offers fudgy brownies and crookies (a croissant-cookie mashup) as part of its weekly rotating menu, according to its website.
