A popular soul food restaurant is expanding its footprint with a new location in Charlotte’s University City.

Sol’Delish CLT, known for serving authentic soul food with a twist, will open a second location Saturday, Sept. 27, at 8927 J M Keynes Drive in University City, the restaurant said via Instagram.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for 10:30 a.m., and the grand opening kicks off at 11:30 a.m., according to the post. Brunch will be served until 3:30 p.m.

The Black-owned restaurant opened its first location in July 2023, offering plates of seafood mac and cheese, crab cakes, jerk wings and other classic comfort foods. Its Everything Greens Dip, a take on traditional spinach dip, is instead made with collard greens and kale.

Appetizer options include mini crab cakes and salmon bites, served alongside an assortment of specialty cocktails to wash it all down.

Lattel Brice, chef and co-owner of Sol’Delish CLT, said most items on the menu are the result of experimenting with the foods he grew up eating and learning to cook.

“It’s just coming up with some different concepts and making it perfect,” Brice told CharlotteFive at the time.

The restaurant’s new location, a 4,700 square-foot space near the University City boardwalk, includes two bars and seats up to 140 guests, QCity Metro reported. It even features a small stage for live performances.

Sol’Delish’s original location at North Tryon Street will remain open for takeout orders, the outlet reported.

Fans cheered news of the restaurant’s expansion, with requests to open more:
