Charlotte restaurant & tea shop closes its doors after 6 years in business

After six years, Binki Cafe Charlotte has officially closed.

The bubble tea shop, which also served juices, smoothies and Asian fusion cuisine, shut its doors Monday, Dec. 15, the family-owned business confirmed in a message shared on its Facebook page.

The last day of service at the University City-area café was Sunday, although a reason for the sudden closure was not made public.

“Thank you from the bottom of our hearts Queen City,” the shop wrote. “Our family is forever grateful for the opportunity to serve you.”

Binki Café Charlotte opened back in 2019 and was listed among some of the best ramen shops in the area in a 2021 CharlotteFive story. The shop said its Winston-Salem location “will remain open until further notice.”

CharlotteFive reached out to Binki Café for more information Tuesday, Dec. 16, and was awaiting a response.
