Matcha lattes, espresso + more: Charlotte coffee shop opens second spot in uptown
A Charlotte café is bringing hand-crafted matcha, espresso and more to uptown.
Gotcha Matcha opened the doors on its second location last week inside Three Wells Fargo Center, according to a recent Instagram post. It’s a less than 5-minute walk from the shop’s original spot at 200 South Tryon Street.
Launched in 2019, Gotcha Matcha says its has something for matcha enthusiasts, novices and everyone in between. The bright green powder is made from finely ground tea leaves, then whisked into hot water. It’s often also used in lattes and baked goods.
“After a visit to Thailand, we were able to see all of the ways in which Matcha was infused in different beverages and desserts,” the café’s website says. “Since then, we were able to create our own specialty matcha recipes, as well as espresso menu.”
At Gotcha Match, customers will find more than a dozen specialty drinks, each made with ceremonial-grade matcha, alongside chai lattes, espresso, refreshers and hot tea. Cinnamon rolls, cookies and other sweet treats are also available.
CharlotteFive reached out to Gotcha Matcha for more information on the new location but didn’t immediately hear back.
This is a developing story and will be updated.
