Popular wine bar picks South End for its first Charlotte location. What to expect
Cru Wine Bar & Bistro is plotting its newest location in Charlotte’s South End.
The upscale wine bar concept will open at Linea apartments this fall and promises a “reimagined menu and refreshed guest experience,” real estate developer Portman said in a news release sent to CharlotteFive.
Known for its 300-plus wines, Cru also offers “elevated” bites across its brunch and lunch menus — from brioche French toast to Italian-style sandwiches and sharable cheese boards. The signature wine flights are also a popular option; you’re sure to find one that pairs well with the brand’s new pinsa pizzas.
Dinner offerings include braised short ribs and seared wagyu steak, among other hearty entrées.
The South End restaurant will mark Cru’s first spot in Charlotte; the brand was introduced in North Carolina with the opening of its bistro at Fenton in Cary in 2022, the News & Observer reported.
“South End’s energy, density and strong sense of community made it a natural fit for us,” Simon Bozas, Cru’s CFO, said in the release.
“With its walkable setting and seamless connectivity, Linea provides the perfect backdrop for everything from an impromptu glass of wine to a celebratory night out, all within a refined yet approachable atmosphere,” he said.
Cru hopes to one day have 30 locations nationwide and is already planning future locations in Florida and Arizona.
