Bakery café with gooey, Oprah-approved cookie coming to Charlotte. Here’s where
A popular bakery and café is bringing its French countryside aesthetic to the Queen City.
Maman NYC has picked Charlotte for its first foray into North Carolina, with plans to open a restaurant at The Commonwealth in Plaza Midwood by spring or early summer, a brand spokesperson told CharlotteFive.
Recent filings with the North Carolina Secretary of State’s Office suggest plans for at least two other Charlotte locations: one at the Atherton Mill shopping mall in South End, and another in the Eastover/Myers Park area.
Maman confirmed the additional cafés to CharlotteFive but said it was too early to discuss the timing for those openings.
Development writers Clayton Sealey and Jason Thomas were the first to report the bakery’s plans to expand to Charlotte.
Maman started as a single bakery in New York’s SoHo neighborhood back in 2014, and three years later reached cult status after its nutty chocolate chip cookie was named on “Oprah’s Favorite Things” list.
“Greeted by the scent of culinary splendor that wafts through the space, our guests step into an experience that engages all of the senses: rustic décor at every turn, the aroma and comfort of cuisines inspired by family traditions, and the highest quality ingredients,” its website says.
The New York-based bakery chain now boasts more than two dozen locations, with spots across New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Miami and Washington, DC.
