This long-awaited sandwich shop is finally opening in NoDa. Here’s when.

Ricci’s Hoagies, an iconic Philadelphia sandwich shop that’s been putting out Italian hoagies since 1920, is finally arriving in Charlotte.

The new 1,000-square-foot hoagies shop is will officially open Wednesday, March 11 at CentroNoDa — and it’s kicking off a music-filled celebration with a deal that honors its century-long heritage. The first 50 guests in line will receive 1920s-era pricing, with sandwiches starting at just 60 cents.

Ricci’s was founded Philadelphia — the birthplace of the hoagie —and is known for pairing its old-school counter service with hand-sliced meats, freshly baked bread and fresh ingredients. The Charlotte location will be the brand’s first restaurant outside the city.

“For more than a century, Ricci’s has been part of Philadelphia’s story. Opening in Charlotte is more than expansion — it’s the first time we’re taking a piece of Philly pride beyond city limits,” Michael Pagliarella, owner of Ricci’s Hoagies, said in a news release sent to CharlotteFive.

“We’re not just bringing hoagies to the Queen City — we’re bringing tradition, attitude and the real taste of South Philly with us.”

The Charlotte location will feature Ricci’s full lineup – including The Old Fashioned Italian, chicken cutlet sandwiches and veggie hoagies. Options for sides include pasta salad, macaroni salad, coleslaw, potato salad, tortellini salad and mozzarella balls.

In the center of the meat roll is a generous filling of chopped garlic, red peppers, and herbs. The crusty bread roll is golden brown and slightly dusted with flour.

“Charlotte has welcomed us with open arms, and we’re committed to giving that support right back,” Charlotte franchise owner Todd Garofalo said in the release.

“From hiring locally to partnering with community organizations and local businesses, we want Ricci’s to be a neighborhood staple for years to come. We plan to support locally as much as possible.”

The opening comes on the heels of another Philadelphia sandwich shop’s arrival in Charlotte. PrimoHoagies opened in November near Charlotte Premium Outlets.
