Krispy Kreme is giving away free doughnuts — if you dress the part. What to know

A Krispy Kreme fan-favorite is back on the menu in time for St. Patrick’s Day, and doughnut lovers can get it for free.

On March 16 and 17, anyone sporting green can get a free green O’riginal Glazed Doughnut at participating Krispy Kreme shops nationwide, according to the Charlotte-based doughnut chain. The freebie is also valid in the drive-thru.

Free doughnuts are limited to one per person, and no purchase is required.

This year, St. Patrick’s Day falls on Tuesday, March 17. Krispy Kreme’s O’riginal Glazed Doughnut — a vibrant green version of its signature pastry — debuted in 2016 and has returned every year (usually only for a few days) to mark the festive holiday.

The doughnut chain recently launched a limited-time St. Patrick’s Day collection featuring four festive doughnuts:

  • Shooting Shamrock
  • Over the Rainbow
  • Plaid Party
  • Chocolate Iced with St. Patrick’s Sprinkles
