A beloved Charlotte bakery is expanding to Ballantyne. ‘This one is really special’
Something sweet is taking shape in South Charlotte.
La Bonbonnière Bakery will sling its famous handmade cookies at a new storefront opening soon at Blakeney Town Center in Ballantyne, owner and pastry chef Valentina Lopez announced this week.
“This is something really beautiful: our second location,” Lopez wrote on Instagram. “We still can’t believe it. We’re excited, nervous, feeling everything all at once… but with full hearts, ready to start serving the suburbs, too.”
Known for its rotating cookie and dessert menu, La Bonbonnière built a following selling at local farmers markets before opening its first brick-and-mortar storefront in uptown last year, CharlotteFive previously reported.
The bakery’s offerings go beyond your classic cookie, with best-selling treats like S’mores Than That — a cookie packed with Graham cracker pieces, marshmallows and Hershey’s milk chocolate. There are a few brownie creations on the menu, too.
“We have more than 35 flavors, so of course we try to change the lineup,” Lopez told CharlotteFive at the time. “That way people can have a cookie hunt, so they are chasing their favorite cookie. If it’s not available this week, it may be next week.”
Details on when the new bakery will open remain under wraps. CharlotteFive reached out to La Bonbonnière on Wednesday, April 1, and was awaiting a response.
