Lake Norman-area sports pub closing after 16 years. ‘An unforgettable ride’

A popular sports pub near Lake Norman is officially closing its doors.

The owners of Jack’s Corner Tap in Cornelius shared the news Wednesday, April 1, in a farewell message many brushed off as an April Fool’s joke. But it wasn’t.

“After 16 years of food and friendship, the party will come to an end here ... on Saturday, April 4,” management wrote on Instagram. “From first-time visitors to longtime regulars, you’ve filled our corner of the Lake Norman area with good vibes and great stories.”

The reason for the closure wasn’t immediately clear.

This image shows the exterior of Jack’s Corner Tap, a neighborhood restaurant featuring a rounded cream-colored facade and a large black awning. A gated outdoor patio is filled with black tables, blue umbrellas, and wooden planter boxes overflowing with colorful flowers. Tall, neatly trimmed evergreen trees and manicured hedges line the perimeter of the seating area under a clear blue sky.

The neighborhood pub touts itself as the place to “throw back some beers” and catch a sports game, according to its website. Expect classic bar bites like burgers and wings, tacos, flatbreads and baby back ribs. There’s a Sunday brunch menu, too.

In a bittersweet goodbye, Jack’s Corner Tap invited locals to stop by for one last hurrah.

“Share a meal, raise a glass and celebrate with us one last time,” the owners wrote. “It’s been an unforgettable ride.”

Editor’s note: A previous version of this story included outdated ownership information. Jack’s Corner Tap is not part of Cambridge Hospitality Group, which no longer exists.
