Well-known Charlotte chef opens new gourmet burger and fries joint. What to know
Classic smashburgers and fries are on the menu at Charlotte’s newest burger joint.
Ann Marie’s Gourmet Burgers & Fries officially opened May 5, offering a mixed menu of wings, burgers, loaded French fries and more, according to social media posts.
It’s tucked inside the Walmart Supercenter at 9820 Callabridge Court on the city’s northwest side. The space was once home to soul food restaurant SkyView 22, which closed in March and now operates as a food truck and caterer, CharlotteFive reported.
Ann Marie’s is the latest concept from chef Renaldo Norris, who also owns Renaldo’s Culinary Experience and Kulture NoDa.
The latter opened in February and specializes in “elevated” comfort food classics. Think: shrimp and grits, salmon Alfredo, lobster mac and cheese, gourmet tacos and wings.
The oxtail pizza — a 12-inch pie topped with consommé, mozzarella cheese, oxtail, peppers, onions and a sweet chili sauce— is also a crowd favorite.
“This is light, fun, playful food,” Norris told QCity Metro at the time. “This is not fine dining, but when you see it on your table, you’re going to want to take a picture of it before you eat it.”
CharlotteFive reached out to Norris for more information on his latest venture and was awaiting a response.
Ann Marie’s is open every day except Mondays from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m.
