Trendy coffee, NY-style bagel shops to shutter at Park Road Shopping Center

Bad news for breakfast lovers: Bruegger’s Bagels and Caribou Coffee are closing up shop at Park Road Shopping Center.

The bakery and café, which share a 4,624 square-foot suite in the shopping center, are slated to close later this month, The Charlotte Ledger first reported.

Their last day in business is Tuesday, May 26, a Caribou Coffee employee confirmed to CharlotteFive over the phone. The reason for the closure wasn’t immediately clear.

Bruegger’s is best known for its NY-style bagels and “Made in Vermont” cream cheese, while Caribou Coffee serves a range of hot coffees, teas and hand-crafted espresso drinks. Both brands are owned by JAB Holding Company, which acquired Bruegger’s in 2017.

CharlotteFive reached out to EDENS Properties, which owns the Park Road Shopping Center, for more information on the closures and was awaiting a response.

The Charlotte Running Company is expected to take over the space after Bruegger’s and Caribou, according to The Charlotte Ledger.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
