Walk-up deli with Italian sandwiches and soft serve sets opening in NoDa Charlotte

Charlotte’s newest micro-deli is less than a week away from its NoDa debut.

Olivelli Deli will serve fresh sandwiches, soft serve ice cream and more from its walk-up window at the corner of 35th and North Davidson streets starting Wednesday, July 1.

If the address sounds familiar, that’s because it once belonged to Reigning Doughnuts. The treat shop, owned by the Tonidandel-Brown Restaurant Group, closed for business in February after owners saw an opportunity to pivot, CharlotteFive previously reported.

A hand with pink nail polish and silver rings holds up a small paper cup filled with chocolate and vanilla twist soft serve ice cream. In the softly blurred background, the brick facade and painted “Olivelli Deli” sign are visible. The treat is positioned centrally, showcasing the clean swirl of the dessert.

The group’s portfolio of restaurants also includes Supperland, Haberdish, Leluia Hall and nearby Growlers Pour House.

“We’re excited to serve the NoDa neighborhood in a new way,” owner Jamie Brown said in a news release. “Olivelli Deli is all about delicious food made with exceptional ingredients, from our housemade benne seed rolls to our fresh-made soft serve.”

Customers can grab a breakfast sandwich (or two) from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., according to the release. The lunch and dinner menu, served from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m., will feature a curated selection of deli sandwiches, each layered with imported Italian meats and served on a from-scratch roll.

A close-up, front-facing shot shows a person holding the two halves of a breakfast sandwich stacked on top of each other. The sandwich is made on a fluffy roll and layered with sliced cheese, ribbons of Italian cured meat, and a fried egg with a bright yellow yolk. The background is softly blurred, focusing attention on the textures of the food.

For dessert, choose from chocolate, vanilla or swirl soft serve made with fresh cream and eggs. The classic treat will be available by the cup or a cone.

Foodies will also find drinks, appetizer-style snacks, sides and more.

Olivelli Deli will be open Tuesday-Sunday from 8 a.m.-8 p.m.

Hanging green shutters display the menu, which includes sections for sandwiches, extras, soft serve, and drinks. Two brass gooseneck lamps illuminate the scene from above the arched window frame.
