Here’s where you can find free donuts around Charlotte today
Like the rest of the U.S., Charlotte is crazy about donuts. Today, customers can get a hold of the favorite breakfast treat for free.
Today is National Donut Day, a tradition started by the Salvation Army in 1938 as a way to feed hungry Americans during the Great Depression. It’s typically celebrated on the first Friday in June.
To celebrate the occasion, several shops around Charlotte will be giving away free donuts and offering other special giveaways and perks.
Here are some ways to celebrate #NationalDonutDay in Charlotte:
– Rise Biscuits Donuts, which operates two stores in the Charlotte area, is donating 10 percent of all sales on Friday to the Salvation Army
– Dunkin’ Donuts will be giving away a free classic donut with the purchase of any beverage
– Duck Donuts, which opened in Dilworth in 2015, is giving away dozens of donuts from now through June 2 through a contest on its Facebook page
– Krispy Kreme is giving away free donuts all day on Friday
