After breaking into the real estate industry five years ago, a Charlotte real estate broker will soon be on HGTV, helping a couple hunt for their new home in the area.

Following a former teacher-turned-Realtor’s appearance on “House Hunters” earlier this month, Veronica Diquez will be featured in on the hit series scoping out homes in Charlotte, Gastonia and Harrisburg with a couple trading their Midwest lifestyle for the Queen City.

“After living in Montana for four years, a couple is moving their family for milder winters to Charlotte, North Carolina. He’d like something turnkey, but she’s starting a new career as an interior designer and wants to dive into renovation,” according to the episode summary.

Diquez, who formerly worked as an interpreter, made the career switch at a time when she and her husband were investing in real estate.

“I figured let me go get my license so that I can handle that part of the process and save some money on the commissions,” she told CharlotteFive.

“I completely and utterly fell in love with it from the class stages — which is bizarre — so after that, I just dove in and started doing real estate full time and never looked back.”

Now, four years later, she’s getting to be in the national spotlight helping out her buyers, who are also her longtime friends.

“We’ve known each other for over 20 years, and I thought it would be just the absolute perfect opportunity,” Diquez explained.

To Diquez, one of her favorite parts about working in the industry is connecting with others, and that experience of doing her job on-camera far exceeded her expectations.

“I think that’s gonna portray very much on the show, and I love that people that maybe don’t get a chance to see me and how I work are gonna be able to see that, so it means a lot to me,” the local broker shared.

With Charlotte becoming one of the fastest-growing areas across the country, she’s grateful for the opportunity that she and other local real estate agents had to be on HGTV’s show.

“I love that our city continues to grow. I love that other Realtors continue to grow. There’s enough people for all of us to have business so I think it’s a beautiful thing that other Realtors can be showcased, as well,” she shared.

“You know, maybe in certain areas, people haven’t heard a lot about Charlotte or how we live in Charlotte, or the types of homes that you can find in Charlotte,” she said. “I think it’s beautiful that we’re able to showcase that and show the variety, feel the diversity … .”

Diquez’ episode of “House Hunters” will air on HGTV at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5 and again at 2:30 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 6.

She’ll also be hosting a watch party at Clutch Kitchen & Pour House the night of the premiere, Feb. 5 at 9 p.m.
