Friday

Bring your dog in their cutest costume to the Pups & Pints Pageant at Birdsong Brewing. Enter your dog in a pageant to compete for “best dressed” and “best trick” prizes, or just hang out and enjoy the show. 7-10 p.m. 1016 N. Davidson St. Free admission.

Start your weekend with an evening of dance, music and film at the Drawing Down the Moon Film Premiere. The night will start with a contemporary dance performance followed by a musical set by Dylan Gilbert before the film premieres at 8:30 p.m. Heist beers will be available for sale. 7:30-9:30 p.m. 1030 Woodward Ave. $10.

Movie buffs won’t want to miss screenings of ”La Camarista” (The Chambermaid) as part of the Cinecasual Film Series. This internationally-acclaimed film tells the story of a lonely, introverted hotel maid and how she starts to connect to the hotel guests and people around her. Appropriate for ages 18 and up. 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. 3104 Eastway Dr. $5.

Take part in the 23rd annual Chinese New Year’s Festival at the Peaceful Dragon. Watch the traditional Lion and Dragon Dances, performances of Chinese music and dance, and experience traditions such as Kung Fu, Tai Chi, calligraphy, acupuncture and more. Sunday

See a live performance from renowned ragtime pianist and storyteller Ethan Uslan at Free Range Brewing’s Four Days of Steinway. Admission includes a pour of Free Range Beer and a souvenir glass to take home. 4-6 p.m. 2320 N. Davidson St. $12 suggested donation.

Bundle up for an Oyster Roast at the Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden. Tickets include all you can eat steamed oysters, live music from LA Acoustics, and garden admission. 1-4 p.m. $50 for adult and $12 for children ages 12 and under.

Give in to your sugar cravings at Dessert for Breakfast at Catawba Brewing. Local bakeries and dessert shops will have a selection of treats, including vegan and gluten-free options, for a sweet start to your day. 10 a.m.-2 p.m. 933 Louise Ave. Free admission.

Experience the Blues at An Evening with Corey Harris. Macarthur Fellowship awardee Harris’s music reflects his roots as a New Orleans street singer and influence from reggae, soul, rock and his experience living in West Africa. $12. 1919 Commonwealth Ave. 8 p.m.
