The North End Farmers Market at Camp North End has extended its season through Dec. 22.

Farmers market fans, you can enjoy fresh produce and locally made products for a little longer this year.

In short: Camp North End’s popular North End Farmers Market — originally slated to end Oct. 27 — will now extend through Dec. 22. And that’s not all. The farmers market is also adding rotating weekly activities, such as a petting zoo event, a chef demo and a jewelry making class, to entertain guests through the holiday season.

WHAT: North End Farmers Market offers 15 anchor vendors and 10 rotating vendors each week

WHEN: Every Wednesday from 4-8 p.m.

WHERE: Keswick Avenue between Camp North End’s Mount and Keswick districts, off the Graham Street entrance at Camp North End, 300 Camp Road.

HIGH POINT: The North End Farmers Market redeems one of the highest number of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program and EBT benefits from the more than 15 farmers markets in Charlotte through the Double Bucks program. It’s funded by Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina and Mecklenburg County Public Health.

“We are excited to extend our market season,” said Samantha DeRosa, Farmers Market Management Services’ market manager. “So are our farmers and small business owners. We have experienced amazing community support, from the customers who have become friends and regulars to the high school volunteers who help staff our market.

PRO TIP: While you’re there, check out The Jugo Bar. “I’ve never seen a community so excited about one vendor,” DeRosa told CharlotteFive. “We got so many requests from social media that we invited them to become a permanent vendor.”

And another thing worth noting is that several of the vendors — including Jugo Bar, Thoughtful Baking Co. and Mano Bella Artisan Foods — buy from the other vendors to create their products. “That is a slam-dunk for us, because the customer is getting the best of all of it, and it’s all local,” DeRosa said.
