Dog parks have always been the perfect place for dog owners and their furry friends to make happy memories together. Although Charlotte is developing at a rapid pace, there are still plenty of options for dog owners who seek adequate space to run, play, and socialize.

Barkingham Park at Reedy Creek Park

Location: 2900 Rocky River Road, Charlotte, NC 28215

Neighborhood: Hickory Grove

Description: Barkingham Park provides four acres of fenced-in area for dogs and their owners. This is an off-leash park that is open to the public and free of charge. The park is open from 7:30am until sunset. Children under the age of 12 are not allowed in dog parks maintained by the county.

Canine Commons Dog Park

Location: 181 Lake Drive, Pineville NC 28134

Neighborhood: Pineville

Description: This dog park conveniently located in between Charlotte and its southern suburbs features a fenced-in area for dogs in a tranquil, wooded environment. The park is open daily from dawn to dusk and closes on Tuesday mornings for maintenance.

Davie Dog Park at William R. Davie Park

Location: 4635 Pineville-Matthews Rd, Charlotte, NC 28226

Neighborhood: Piper Glen

Description: Davie Dog Park provides five acres of fenced-in area for dogs and their owners. There are two separate sections of the park, one for dogs larger than 20 pounds and another for dogs smaller than 20 pounds. This is an off-leash park that is open to the public and free of charge. The park is open from 7:30 a.m. until sunset. Children under the age of 12 are not allowed in dog parks maintained by the county.

Dog Bar

Location: 3307 N Davidson St, Charlotte, NC 28205

Neighborhood: NoDa

Description: At Dog Bar, off-leash playtime comes with beer, wine, cocktails, and roomy, social-friendly patios. Dog Bar is open Tuesday through Friday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., Saturdays from 12 p.m. to 11 p.m., and Sundays from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Frazier Place Dog Park

Location: 1201 W Trade St, Charlotte, NC 28208

Neighborhood: Uptown

Description: Frazier Park provides 1.3 acres of fenced-in area for dogs and their owners. This is an off-leash park that is open to the public and free of charge. The park features “a public water supply for doggie drinks” and is open from 7:30 a.m. until sunset. Children under age 12 are not allowed in dog parks maintained by the county.

Lucky Dog Bark and Brew

Location: 2220 Thrift Rd, Charlotte, NC 28208

Neighborhood: Wesley Heights

Description: This paw-friendly location is not only for boarding and doggy daycare, but also offers a space for dog owners and their pets to socialize with others. Lucky Dog is open from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 2 p.m.-11 p.m. on Fridays, and 12 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

Mary Mac Dog Park

Location: 148 Adventure Road, Fort Mill, SC 29715

Neighborhood: Fort Mill

Description: This dog park is located in the heart of Fort Mill at Anne Springs Close Greenway. The highly rated dog park is open to members only, seven days a week. Dogs of all sizes are welcome and the park features a designated area for small dogs.

Neighborhood: Brookhill/South End
