Caught without “Hamilton” tickets? Now there’s a new way to get a spot to see the musical about American founding father Alexander Hamilton.

Producer Jeffrey Seller and Blumenthal Performing Arts have announced a digital lottery for tickets that will begin in conjunction with the Tony- and Grammy-award wining show’s first Charlotte performance April 26 at the Belk Theater.

Here’s how it works: A limited number of $10 tickets will be available for every performance. Digital lotteries will begin on each Friday and close the following Thursday for the upcoming week’s performances.

When does it start: The lottery will first open at 10 a.m. Friday, April 15 and will close at noon Thursday, April 21 for the shows April 26 through May 1.

What you need to do:

  • Use the official app for “Hamilton,” available for iOS and Android devices in the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store.
  • Winner and non-winner notifications will be sent between 1-4 p.m. every Thursday for the upcoming week’s performances via email and mobile push. Winners will have two hours to claim and pay for their ticket(s) — each winner can buy up to two.
  • Only one entry per person, 18 and older. Repeat entries and disposable email addresses will be thrown out.
  • Lottery tickets must be picked up at will call starting 2 hours before the performance with a valid photo ID. Lottery tickets are void if resold.
  • But what if you don’t win?:

“Hamilton” tickets are still on sale. Check the official “Hamilton” channels and blumenthalarts.org for late release seats.

    COVID-19 notes:

Guests are encouraged to wear a mask indoors and must agree to abide by whatever protocols are in place at the time of a performance. Blumenthal may issue a refund, refuse admission or remove a guest over failure to follow health and safety measures.
