Meet Patric Richardson, aka HGTV’s The Laundry Guy, wander through gardens designed and created by local landscapers, and shop exhibitors at the Greater Charlotte Home & Landscape Show. Virginia Chamlee, author of “Big Thrift Energy,” will also appear on the Fresh Ideas stage. The events at the Cabarrus Arena and Events Center in Concord lasts through Sunday, Jan. 29. Show hours are noon-7 p.m. Friday; 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday; and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $9 at the door and $7 online; children 12 and younger are free. Browse the work in Jacolby Satterwhite’s “Finding Home Again” exhibit at Van Every/Smith Galleries at Davidson College. The exhibit includes his digital animated series, Birds in Paradise, which features a mythological, queer universe inspired by pop culture, African folklore, ritual, video games and personal narratives. Dive into the fashion world at Wednesday Night Live: Fashion Night at the Mint, a celebration of the exhibit “Fashion Reimagined: Themes and Variations, 1760-NOW.” At 6 p.m., an opening reception for the Graphic GarMINT installation, organized by Davita Galloway, will highlight Black designers in Charlotte. MacFly Fresh Printing Co. will be screen-printing live on site, as a DJ spins tunes. Check out Men of Change: Power. Triumph. Truth., which profiles Black male icons in America, at the Harvey B. Gantt Center for African-American Arts+Culture and Levine Museum of the New South. The exhibit highlights revolutionary men including Muhammad Ali, James Baldwin, Ta-Nehisi Coates, W.E.B. DuBois and Kendrick Lamar, whose journeys have altered the history and culture of the country.
