Who remembers dancing the night away at The Forum nightclub in Charlotte?

Let’s go back for a moment to 2005, when The Forum quickly became one of the places to be on College Street. Mythos had closed in the same space exactly one year prior, and The Forum’s arrival was much-needed.

Andy Kastanas, The Forum’s owner, is hosting a series of throwback parties. The first one was the Park Elevator reunion, then Mythos. Next up: It’s time to celebrate The Forum nightclub.

“These spots cut the path and fueled the growth of the entertainment culture of Charlotte today,” Kastanas said in a statement.

About The Forum

The storied nightclub was an anchor of the College Street nightclub scene, located at 300 N College St. The Forum opened in September 2005.

Kastanas founded the club with partners Tom Tsilimos, Gus and George Georgoulias and George Stergiou. “The nightclub landscape was changing, Mythos had been open for 11 years as a progressive underground dance club. That popularity and tenure created the need to bring that mega club culture to the establishment,” Kastanas said.

“What we saw trending was a mashup of EDM and pop which was the mainstream’s answer to club culture, and that’s what we wanted to present. The era of the celebrity DJ was officially born.”

It held a few closing parties in June 2010, and then a few “one-night-only” parties until officially closing in November 2010.

What is it now? After The Forum, the space belonged to Phoenix Nightclub. Now it’s The Imperial/QC Social Lounge.
