2024 Charlotte Pride Festival and Parade: What to know about street closures, parking

Thousands of people will be packing the streets of uptown for one of the city’s biggest events: The 2024 The 2024 Charlotte Pride Festival and Parade.

Following celebratory activities all around the city during Pride Week, the two-day free event is back this weekend with art displays, live performances, games and vendors, concluding with about 200 groups and 11,000 marchers parading their way through what organizers say will be a “rainbow-filled Tryon Street.”

Thel festival will be held Saturday, Aug. 17 from noon to 11 p.m. and 12-6 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 18 — with the parade on Sunday from 1-4 p.m.

The Charlotte Pride parade, which will feature about 200 groups and 11,000 marchers, will take place along Tryon Street from Ninth Street to Fourth Street.

Parking and public transportation

With the big event being held in the heart of uptown, heavy traffic may be a challenge for those planning to attend. But there are several parking and transit drop-off options near the area.

You can find a list of nearby parking garages and lots in uptown online at parking.com/charlotte/neighborhoods/uptown.

If you’d rather skip the drive into the city, you can also plan to take the light rail to one of the stations near the festival zone and parade route:

Tickets for the light rail can be purchased at a Ticket Vending Machine located at station platforms or online through the CATS-Pass mobile app.
