Sharing the love: These Charlotte Friendsgiving celebrations are gathering us together

The holidays are a time for coming together, and Friendsgiving celebrations in the Charlotte area are a way to do just that with friends, community members and others you might want to get to know a little better this November.

There’s no set day for this unofficial gathering, but many host the event close to Thanksgiving as a way to celebrate with friends, as well as family. This year, Charlotte’s Friendsgiving celebration stretch from early November to Thanksgiving day itself.

If you don’t want to host one yourself, there are several options for you to reserve a space at one already in motion. There’s even a Friendsgiving feast on tap at Counter-, but the dinners have already sold out — so don’t delay if there’s an event you have your eye on.

Here are some options for Friendsgiving gatherings in the Charlotte area:

Carolina Crawls Friendsgiving

Location: Resident Culture South End, 332 W Bland St C, Charlotte, NC 28203

When: Wednesday, Nov. 27, 6-9 p.m.

Carolina Crawls is hosting a Friendsgiving night featuring prizes for “Friends” trivia and music bingo winners, along with a collection of nonperishable foods for Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina.

Tickets: The event is free, but a $10 donation is suggested.

Customshop Friendsgiving with Jean’s Cold Drinks

Location: Customshop, 1601 Elizabeth Ave, Charlotte, NC 28204

When: Wednesday, Nov. 27, with seatings from 5-8 p.m.

Customshop is partnering on a Friendsgiving dinner with Jean’s Cold Drinks — opening soon at The Alley at Latta Arcade.

The five-course menu includes:

  • Bass Crudo with escabeche, Calabrian chile, colatura di alici

  • Carrots with whipped fromage blanc, orange, cumin, confit garlic, honey and dukkah

  • Agnolotti del Plin with beef cheek, mushrooms, truffle butter and chili oil

  • Porcelete with romesco, chicory and chicharrón

  • Chocolate and Miso Tart with pretzel crust, whipped crème fraiche and sesame crumble

Tickets: $125, prepaid via OpenTable. An optional cocktail pairing for each course from Jean’s is $45.

Eat, Gay, Love 2024

Location: Resident Culture South End, 332 W Bland St C, Charlotte, NC 28203

When: Thursday, Nov. 28, 2-5 p.m.

The inclusive Eat, Gay, Love dinner — led by Queen City Nerve and Brian DuBois in partnership with Resident Culture Brewing — is a free Thanksgiving meal for LGBTQIA+ community members. Eat, Gay, Love is operated through donations and volunteers, and any unserved food is donated to Block Love Charlotte to distribute to neighbors experiencing homelessness.
