Here are 10 ways to enjoy Charlotte for free this February:

When: Now through Feb 23, after dusk

Rail Trail Lights returns to illuminate the Charlotte Rail Trail until Feb. 23, featuring nine interactive light installations. This year’s exhibition, commissioned by Charlotte Center City Partners, is designed by local public artist Meredith Connelly, who collaborated with 11 local artists to bring the pieces to life.

Want to see more of Connelly’s work? You’ll have to wait until next month, but on March 6, her exhibit “Sovereign: Honoring Bodily Autonomy” opens at McColl Center. Connelly curated pieces from more than 50 artists as a response to U.S. citizens feeling like their bodily autonomy is being challenged. “More than 130 artists submitted their work, showing just how deeply this theme resonates,” Connelly said in a statement. “As a curator, it is both inspiring and challenging to make selections that honor the diversity of voices while creating a cohesive exhibition experience.”
