A new wellness destination is arriving in South End: BathHouse CLT, a luxury contrast therapy club offering traditional sauna experiences combined with cold plunges, relaxation lounges and a social experience.

Co‑owners Viktor Poznyur and Danny Russo developed the concept over several years, drawing inspiration from Poznyur’s experience visiting similar wellness spas in Portland, Oregon. Poznyur distinguished his experience in Oregon from growing up in a Ukrainian household, where socializing in wellness spaces was an integral part of the culture.

“Our culture is very much revolved around banyas,” Poznyur told CharlotteFive, referring to a type of steam bath. “But in Portland, it was the same concept — but it was something that was completely on a more serene level.”

He explained that the environment in banyas tends to be more rowdy, while the landscape at the spa in Oregon was designed to be calming and intentionally slow-paced.

That tranquility is something Poznyur hopes to replicate with BathHouse CLT. Drawing from his roots and his experience in Portland’s wellness scene, he said the goal is to create a space where guests can not only reset their bodies but also their minds, whether through the shock of a cold plunge or the quiet steam of a sauna.

What to expect

Located in the historic Charlotte Saw & Knife Co. building at 420 W. Palmer St., BathHouse CLT brings a blend of European bathing traditions, with thermal soaks, a eucalyptus steam room, a cold plunge pool, kombucha bar and indoor-outdoor lounge space.

The 4,000‑square‑foot facility will offer appointment-only contrast therapy sessions priced at $60 for two hours. Visitors are treated to towels, locker access, slides, complimentary tea and electrolyte water and a relaxing communal experience capped at 30 guests per session.

Poznyur recommends starting with a 15-minute sauna, followed by a rinse, a five-minute plunge, another rinse and a thermal soak – repeated at your own pace.

“Essentially, when people walk in, they have access to the whole facility,” Poznyur said.

Membership options

Visitors can buy individual sessions, or opt for one of three membership options:

  • Essential: $149 for 5 monthly visits
  • Relax: $199 for 8 monthly visits
  • Wellness: $249 for 12 monthly visits

However, Poznyur said memberships will be limited to 500 people because he doesn’t want the facility to feel exclusive.

“We want this to be more on the open side to the public, because we want Charlotte to experience this relief from everyday stress,” he added. “We want to give everyone the opportunity to experience this.”
